MedLaw Consulting was founded in 1999 to serve attorneys, insurance companies, other investigators, and private individuals.

Located on Williams Lane, just off highway 220 in the tiny community of Fork Mountain, Virginia,  MedLaw Consulting is one of only a few such businesses to be found in a wide geographical area.

Thirty years of nursing experience in a wide variety of medical practice settings, and paralegal training combine to make the services of MedLaw Consulting a valuable tool for attorneys, insurance companies, and others who have a need for professional medical records review.

Nurses have been performing the functions of legal nurse consultants for a number of years, but only recently have they gained the distinction of the official title and recognition with the development of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants in 1989.

Years of nursing practice and medical  knowledge make the contribution of a legal nurse consultant invaluable to the legal community and others involved in medical-legal matters.  Serving for plaintiff or defense, they can locate standards of care that apply to any medical setting, and identify deviations from that standard in medical records review.  They can also identify inconsistencies in documentation, missing or altered medical records, serve as expert witnesses or locate other experts, assist with depositions, provide medical exhibits for trial, perform medical research, and provide medical education to attorneys prior to trial.
